I was thinking about the suspension of forms, patterns and objects  within a picture plane, defying gravity, floating, sinking or suspended. In art you can make things do what you want.  It seemed that a flood as a phenomenon was a good way of thinking about how we experience the world -as we flow through it, so it flows through us. Many of my pictures explore this I think.  In 'Flood Study 6' I have used collaged images including a cutout section from another painting that I destroyed,  and found images from magazines. Things that floated past me, in effect.
