Evening Advanced Cyanotype Workshop

Etching Workshop Days

The emphasis in this evening session is on developing existing techniques and ideas in cyanotype production, gained from one of my Friday cyanotype workshops or elsewhere. So some prior experience is useful, though not vital. Participants will be able to prepare cotton canvas on a large scale as well as smaller pieces of the same fabric. Also paper of various sizes, and some A4 pretreated cotton sheets. Participants will also be able to prepare acetates, adapting photographic sources using Photoshop and inkjet printing. We will explore expressive and creative methods of coating. We will develop bleaching and toning techniques using natural tannins such as tea. We will expose dry and wet cyanotypes using daylight and UV lamps as appropriate. Information will be available on the finer points of developing and washing cyanotypes. Some participants may choose to use an evening workshop to prepare surfaces to expose during a daytime workshop.
