I painted this image during a hot spell in April 2020. I imagined an architectured structure leaning in on itself. Drawings and memories of Siena Cathedral and its striped strata play a role here. The structure appears to contain a sun, as though the heat shone in through a window. There is also a hint at an animal presence, (possibly an elephant)I have been told. Ambiguity was intentional, an elephant unintentional, but I am pleased its presence is a possibility.
